New York State Armed and Unarmed Security Guard mandated training

Unarmed Security Guard Requirements

IPS is one of the best place to start your career. IPS is a New York state-approved security guard training facility and the premier educational provider. To become unarmed security guard in New York, it requires 8 hours of pre-assignment training and another 16 hours completed while on-the job. Once you complete your 16-hour on-the-job training, an 8-hour course must be completed within 1 year, and every year you remain a security guard in the state of New York.

Armed Security Guard Requirements

To become an armed security guard in New York state you must have a valid NYS Firearms Permit and security guard registration before you will be allowed to enroll in an armed security guard training course. In addition to courses involved in unarmed security, you must complete a 47-hour firearms training course. Once you have the armed guard license you will need to take an Eight Hour Annual In-Service Training Course for Armed Guards each year.
